Chance And The Vols: They Rock
Chance was not doing well—living on the street, scrambling for enough food to stay alive. People and cars streamed by not even acknowledging his pitiful existence. This was at the end of 2013, and little did Chance know that it was about to become a truly Happy New Year. Life started to get better when Chance was picked up and brought to the West LA Shelter, so scared that he had to be carried.
The shelter staff and volunteers immediately began to tend to his needs—ear infection, abscess, malnutrition, fear. His personality made him a shelter favorite, and everyone began to work to insure a wonderful future for him.
He really brought out the creative juices of his friends—take a look at the fantastic flyer his friends created.
The publicity effort caught the attention of Karen, the Thulani Program volunteer in the LA basin, and Chance was welcomed into our program. He will be coming north shortly, and we will find him a forever home in which he can live out his natural life in warmth and comfort, never again having worry about what to eat or where to sleep. All because of a rock (ing) group—Chance and the Vols.
Is it weird that I still miss him dearly? Just the most happiest guy!! Love you Chance!!!
Hello cristina! I just saw your message on the web and wanted you to know that Chance has been with me for about a week now….He is indeed the sweetest fellow! He is sleeping in our bed…loving the backyard/sun…chasing the kitty (HE RAN!!!) and enjoyed the people who came for dinner last night, tho thought it quite rude he was not invited to the table. He continues to wag his tail on meeting new folks and dogs…walk VERY slowly, tho will trot a bit when I encourage a faster pace past a few houses. He is clean and brushed and more and more relaxed. We have decided he probably was raised in a home with Spanish as his native language as he acts as tho any “suggestions” of behavior are in a foreign language!…I am so very very appreciative that he was so well cared for and cared bout. You prove it with your continued , not at all weird, attachment. Thank you! Valerie
Chance has been with me for a week now! He is sweet and friendly and slowly feeling safer and happier. He actually RAN (after the kitty) yesterday…enjoyed our dinner company tho wanted to join us at the table….his health is improving…his spirits are too…Thank you for still thinking of him! We need lots of “weird” people who connect as you do. Valerie
He has been with us for a week! He loves sleeping on the bed…chasing the kitty (he RAN!) and SLOW walks. He is beginning to be more relaxed and feel safe. Thank you for your “weird” attachment to him…we need more people like that!
This makes me very happy! He’s a great boy!! Thanks so much for loving him too! 🙂
