Shiloh LA: The Great Imposter
Shiloh LA is a 6-7 year old female German Shepherd that was rescued from a Los Angeles area shelter at the last moment. She has some grey around her muzzle and grey eyebrows, which led us to believe she was a senior dog. But her attitude, energy level, really good health all point to her being much younger than we thought, a belief confirmed by the veterinarian who just examined her.
Shiloh has lots of excellent qualities. She is very good with people. She loves to go for walks, and walks politely on lead if you have her on the right collar. She is comfortable in the house, but is very curious, with her nose checking out everything—even counter tops. She is comfortable going outside to explore, but then comes in and wants to be with her people. She can get a bit anxious when her people are not with her, and was seen easily clearing a 6’ fence to follow her person to the house. She currently is living free with four other dogs, three males and a female. She met them in a very relaxed way and is easy around them, but doesn’t engage much with them—her focus being on her people. She is crate trained, sleeps quietly in a crate when asked to, and is quiet in a crate for periods of time during the day.
Shiloh has good energy, but does not require a lot of exercise. A couple of half hour walks a day are probably sufficient for her, as long as she has room to move around at home. We have not tested her with cats.
