Frances T.: Olympic High Jumper
Frances T. was picked up as a stray by San Jose Animal Care in south San Jose. She is an energetic, bouncy, happy, friendly lady who likes to tell you at great length about everything. She loves to go for walks, but pulls on the lead. She rides well in the car, in an active sort of way. She spent a lot of time in the shelter meeting a whole lot of other dogs, and her doggie skills are excellent.
Frances was not particularly well cared for, and shows signs of having spent a lot of ‘neglected’ time in the back yard. But her coat is in good shape, and her ears have healed from some very serious fly-strike.
Frances T. is a Thulani Program dog, which means that we predict that she has a limited life expectancy. She had a series of mammary tumors, at least one of which was malignant. They have been removed, but not before the cancer had metastasized to her lymph system and to her lungs. For now, she is a happy dog that is showing no obvious signs of the disease. And we have had dogs in similar states that are still with their fosterers after more than a year and a half.
Frances now is living with an athletic foster mom in San Francisco, getting her full measure of exposure and exercise. She is one happy girl.
