Sipote T.: A Suave Old Gentleman
Watch out–Sipote is a lover, and he has had a long time to perfect his skills. He also has a waggy tail and an expression that will melt your heart. Sipote is a 12 yr old red sable male German Shepherd who was dumped at the Downey Shelter in Los Angeles because he was too old and didn’t play like a young dog any more. There should be a mandatory IQ test for dog ownership—anyone with an IQ lower than that of a string bean should be prohibited from having a companion animal. Sipote’s owners would not have passed that test.
Sipote apparently means ‘significant’ in Colombian, and significant he is. He is the most wonderful companion. He is only demanding for skritches and pets. He rides well in the car, and loves to go for short walks. He is completely at ease with dogs of all sizes and he tested fine with cats. He has a very accomplished tongue that he uses to show he loves you.
He and his cat buddy now have complex games they play. They also have an erly morning ritual where they both go out onto the deck, sit side by side, and survey their domain.
Sipote just recently put his social skills on full display at the German Shepherd Rescue fundraiser Wags to Riches. He was a Thulani Program Ambassadog. And what a hit he made. He had people fawning all over him. He took it all in stride, just as if he had prepared for that sort of role all his life.
Sipote is now living in his forever home in Fremont with foster mom Carol. Live well, Sipote.
