Star T.: On a Successful Weight-Loss Program
Star T. went into the vet hospital last Tuesday weighing 100.8 lbs and came home weighing 99.3 lbs. They removed a grapefruit-sized mammary tumor that weighed ONE AND A HALF pounds!! We are waiting for the biopsy report, but for now, the weight-loss program has been suspended.
Star T., an 11 year old elegant female German Shepherd, was taken to a veterinary hospital with a request for her to be euthanized because the family could not afford the surgery. She was in great shape except for the tumor, and had obviously been well cared for.
So one of their very conscientious employees started making phone calls to see if there was a rescue organization that could help this girl. Tina found the Thulani Program, and with Tina’s help we now have Star T. as one of our star program participants.
Star is a classic, elegant, large German Shepherds that is stunningly beautiful. And her personality matches her looks. She is social, interactive, and very friendly with people—coming up with a tail wag to everyone she meets. She has been completely at ease with every dog she has met. She is living freely with my pack of male and female pooches and interacts with them in a completely appropriate manner. She has terrific house manners. She sleeps freely in my room at night, on a pad by my bed. She has let me know that she would not mind sleeping on my bed, but has not pushed the issue. She eats well but is not a resource guarder. She has a relatively soft mouth when taking treats. She is house-trained, and rides well in the car—keeping an eye out for what the world is doing around her. Her former owners report that she grew up with kids.
Star is part of the Thulani Program, and as such we will find her a warm, loving home in which to live out her natural life. She will make some lucky family a phenomenal companion. As with all Thulani dogs, the program will pay all of her expenses from now on. If you might be interested in providing Star with a home while gaining a companion that will love you, and stop traffic with her looks, please contact Bob at firstname.lastname@example.org.
